What to Expect at your Guardianship / Conservatorship Appointment

When you make an appointment to review the need for a Guardianship and / or a Conservatorship, we ask that you provide some information so that the appointment can be productive and useful to you. The forms can be downloaded from this tab (you will find them at the bottom) or we can mail them to you. They each relate to the person about whom you are concerned. One reviews his or her finances, another reviews his or her family situation. Please take this seriously; our advice to you is only as good as the information you provide to us. If you cannot complete the forms, come in anyway. We will do our best with the information we have.
Please bring to the appointment with you:
Your appointment with the attorney will last between an hour and an hour and a half. In some cases, the paralegal who works with our Guardianships and Conservatorships, Jen Coviello, may sit in on part of the appointment. During this time, the attorney will review the information you have provided; will determine what your specific questions or concerns are regarding the person about whom you are concerned; and will advise about whether it appears that a Guardianship and / or a Conservatorship will meet your needs.
If appropriate, you will be offered a retainer, normally fixed fee, outlining our recommendation, and the cost.
